Splish splash I was taking a bath

I find it quite ironic that as the east of Australia was being deluged by torrential rain, we here in the west were sweltering in 38 + degree temperatures. Ridiculous as it sounds, I was praying for some rain to ease the unbearable weather.

And lets not forget that only weeks earlier, the north of Western Australia was facing flooding of its own. Carnarvon and surrounding residents were evacuated as the Gascoyne River reached record levels.

It's quite a poignant tale of how mother nature can encumber our wide country with complete extremes of weather. And as Australians we battle on as best we can.

Thankfully with the heat, we here in the west got the better deal. As horrid as the oppressive temperatures were, we at least found some relief by splish splashing in the bath all afternoon. Oscar has a whale of a time creating his own mini tsunami in the laundry.

I guess you could point out the irony of little kids in the east paddling boats down their main street. What a crazy world we live in!

  1. Crazy indeed... especially when you think that is all happening in the same country 'across golden plains!'

That necklace that Mathilda is wearing is like Amelie's... was a gift from Auntie Kate?

  3. Can Oscar get any cuter?

I wonder if Amelie will brave a bath with him when you visit? Or will Ossie have to bath solo?

  4. The stark contrast is amazing isn't it?! It is hard not to compare when QLD, VIC and northern WA as you pointed out are all being flooded, and yet there are bushfires in other areas and sweltering heat. Hope you get some relief soon.

  5. It is certainly a stark contrast. We too were enjoying the warm weather and thank goodness had vacated to the beach for the day! Raaayy.
I do love the second pic of Ossie - they do love the water. Nathan was out for a dip with all of us today. They all just love the water!!
    Cheerio...

  6. Ooops sorry Jess, I should have pointed out the photos are of Oscar splish splashing in the bath. While Mathilda does love the water, she doesn't stay still long enough for me to get a photo of her! And yes, that is an amber necklace from Aunty Kate :)

Mel and Posie, yes I forgot about the recent bushfires too! Sadly our most recent fire was caused by arson. I just can't comprehend how someone can deliberately create such destruction.

Ha ha Kate, how brave is Amelie!

Hoorah Jo, thank you for stopping by! I'm so envious of you being at the coast today, we didn't move much farther then our living room and the air conditioner! I can't wait to see your new blog, hint hint xx

  7. It has made me feel so powerless, sitting on this side of the country, first watching the destruction and then watching the volunteers in action. I want to be there to help.
