This week I am grateful for. . . . my new sewing machine!

After researching a baffling number of different brands and models, I finally have a new sewing machine! My only regret is that it has taken me this long to buy one and learn how to sew!

My Janome is so quiet and easy to use, and I have been in heaven playing with all my gorgeous new fabrics. My first (finally completed!) sewing project is a sweet little doll for Tilly. I had a bit of trouble with embroidering her eyes (perhaps I should have practised first!) so I decided to cover my sins with some big brown buttons. Next time I'm hoping for some pretty eyelashes and a button nose.

I'm so in love with this doll design from Bit of Whimsy Dolls, and I have several more patterns waiting to be sewn together. Now I just need a day of peace!

I hope you too are having a day to be grateful for. I am playing along with Maxabella Loves, come along and join in the fun!

  1. What a gorgeous doll as your first sewing project! It looks great too! Be careful though. Sewing can be addicitive. I get a thrill out of seeing my kids wear or play with things I have made for them.

  7. Ha ha Amelie, you're about right with that one! Never fear, I'm just waiting for my felt to arrive and I'm going to start from scratch with her face. Can't have my first ever doll resembling a monkey!
