This week I am grateful for. . . . my new sewing machine!

After researching a baffling number of different brands and models, I finally have a new sewing machine! My only regret is that it has taken me this long to buy one and learn how to sew!

My Janome is so quiet and easy to use, and I have been in heaven playing with all my gorgeous new fabrics. My first (finally completed!) sewing project is a sweet little doll for Tilly. I had a bit of trouble with embroidering her eyes (perhaps I should have practised first!) so I decided to cover my sins with some big brown buttons. Next time I'm hoping for some pretty eyelashes and a button nose.

I'm so in love with this doll design from Bit of Whimsy Dolls, and I have several more patterns waiting to be sewn together. Now I just need a day of peace!

I hope you too are having a day to be grateful for. I am playing along with Maxabella Loves, come along and join in the fun!

  1. What a gorgeous doll as your first sewing project! It looks great too! Be careful though. Sewing can be addicitive. I get a thrill out of seeing my kids wear or play with things I have made for them.

  2. Oh yes, who doesn't love a new toy, and a sewing machine is high up there on quality toys.

  3. Hi Chrissy..a new world of goodness has just opened it's door to you with the advent of a sewing machine..i absolutely adore your red doll and want to follow you now to see what else you will make!

  4. There will be no stooping you now :)
I have that same softie pattern which has been well received as a gift for the little friends in our life...yours is gorgeous and I quite like the button eyes :)
    Happy sewing

  5. According to Amelie your doll looks like a monkey ha ha.

    I think it looks great!

    I can't believe you're a beginner!

  6. Wow, that looks like you'd need a license to drive it! What fun the two of you are going to have. x

  7. Ha ha Amelie, you're about right with that one! Never fear, I'm just waiting for my felt to arrive and I'm going to start from scratch with her face. Can't have my first ever doll resembling a monkey!

  8. Haha love amelie's comment :)

I am amazed that you are a beginner and you are already making such beautiful dolls Chrissy and have so many custom orders in que! Good on you.

I got a sewing machine from santa for xmas and sadly it has only just made it out of the box... Fingers crossed i can use it soon! You have inspired me!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, I love knowing that you stopped by.
