Miss Goodie Two Shoes

*pops head in sheepishly*

Yes it is I! And I promise there is a very good reason for why my poor little blog was abandoned so suddenly and, seemingly, without remorse! I have been busy.... exceptionally busy.... but in the most wonderful, crazy, exciting kind of way!

So much has happened in a mere short week. I am still reeling from the excitement, surprise and overwhelming support. On a whim, I decided to create a Facebook Page for my handmade dolls. I thought I would get a few people popping by and perhaps, if I was lucky, a few sales. It was never in the forefront of my mind that in those few short minutes it took me to create Miss Goodie Two Shoes I was in fact creating a business enterprise.

On the night Miss Goodie Two Shoes was born, a gorgeous girl and her business - Yumminess Textiles came upon my little page and sent a post to all her likers. The rest, they say, is history! In merely a day I had 12 custom orders, by weeks end I had 40 and two requests for wholesaling my dolls.

If you'd told me a week ago that I would be creating something I love, and sharing it with people who love it even more, I would never have believed you! I still cannot fathom the amazing support, overwhelming generosity and incredible joy I have felt and received this past week.

Just call me Miss Goodie Two Shoes!

Weekend syndrome

There's no doubt about it, if I'm going to get sick, it always happens on a weekend. I'm not sure if it's my body tormenting me because I covet my Saturdays, or breathing a sigh of relief because hubby is home to look after the kids so I can sleep all day?

Either way, my exciting Saturday plans of gardening, painting and sewing have been shelved for another time. Fingers crossed I wake up tomorrow feeling slightly more human!

The night owl

I'm yawning, I have bags under my eyes, I'm onto my second coffee and I should have been in bed hours ago. So why am I still awake?

I'm a night owl.

Despite needing every ounce of sleep I can get at the moment, I just can't seem to get to bed earlier then 11pm. And that's an early night! Before babies, my late nights were simply about not being able to sleep. Now they're about savouring as much 'me' time as I can before a new day dawns.

There is also something incredibly delicious about sitting alone in a house so quiet you can hear the crickets chirping, the fridge whirring and the ringing in your ears. I love being able to blog without interruption, shop for gorgeous new delights, and the past few nights I've been giddy with enjoyment as I sew together my little creations.

Sure I might be a darn sight more tired during the day, but I'm a lot happier. And for me, its the little things that make a whole lot of difference!

I hope you're enjoying some time alone tonight, and if you've already retired to your comfy pillow, sweet dreams xx

Isn't the little owl pic cute? I found it at We Heart It

This week I am grateful for. . . . my new sewing machine!

After researching a baffling number of different brands and models, I finally have a new sewing machine! My only regret is that it has taken me this long to buy one and learn how to sew!

My Janome is so quiet and easy to use, and I have been in heaven playing with all my gorgeous new fabrics. My first (finally completed!) sewing project is a sweet little doll for Tilly. I had a bit of trouble with embroidering her eyes (perhaps I should have practised first!) so I decided to cover my sins with some big brown buttons. Next time I'm hoping for some pretty eyelashes and a button nose.

I'm so in love with this doll design from Bit of Whimsy Dolls, and I have several more patterns waiting to be sewn together. Now I just need a day of peace!

I hope you too are having a day to be grateful for. I am playing along with Maxabella Loves, come along and join in the fun!

Jumping in muddy puddles

One of Oscar's favourite cartoon characters is Peppa Pig. She's a cheeky little pig who loves jumping in muddy puddles with her brother George. She has become quite a phenomenon in our household, and Oscar delights in quoting his favourite lines:

"Eeeeeeek too SCAAA-RY!"

"DIIII-NOSAUR, roooooar!"

On a recent sweltering autumn day, we were delighted by an afternoon sun shower. The rain fell in big fat drops and smelt delightful. It was such a welcome relief to the persistent 30 + degree days we've been having for more then five months.

The first thing Oscar did was pull on his gumboots, and declare "Time to jump in muddy puddles!"

"Oh where's the rain gone?"

Today we enjoyed another day of autumn rain, and this time the cool weather came with it. I have my fingers crossed those 30 degrees are finally behind us.

Rufflicious

Are these not the most divine ruffly bloomers you have ever seen?

My sweet little package arrived today from the divinely talented Little Lou Lou. I am now in ruffle heaven!

Wordless Wednesday: hope

If I could have just one wish, it would be that innocence prevailed over evil.

On this Wordless Wednesday I am sending hands full of hope and a heart full of love to a very special person in my life.

Morning glory

I have so much to be grateful for this week; not least my beautiful mum, my gorgeous babies, and the time I have spent relaxing and re-energising. When I return home to the comfort of my Mac I will recount all my blessings and tend to my neglected blog, but in the meantime I wanted to share a snippet of my joy. Something that guaranteed a smile every morning this week.

There is finally a chill in the air! It's crisp and fresh, smelling of dewy grass and an early morning sun. Blink and you will miss it, but for those sublime few moments each morning, Oscar and I have been able to dream of winter. And pretend it's nearly upon us.

I hope you've had a delightful week too xx
